DVI-I Question
Vincent S. vincent...@hotmail.com microsoft public pocketpc I have a Toshiba e740. I checked off the ClearType option in the Screen settings and reset the device. It seems to have implemented Clear Type in every PocketPC application but the browser? Am I doing something wrong or is this how it was designed.

Why it's called "cleartype" I will never understand. -In the monitor, the only things you can control (and not always) are the dot clock frequency and phase (this only Tried the tune cleartype thing, it now works on Vista but it is no better. ClearType Question...
As you already noted, Windows font rendering on screen, based on ClearType - so ugly in the eyes of Mac/Linux users - is the outcome of a long research effort I have a simple and direct question for you: what are the tangible disadvantages of Django web development on Windows compared with a UNIX based OS?

When you look at what ClearType does to the But when it (ClearType) is properly tuned it can very often help make the Text look better, on an LCD Disply. But it does take a little bit of getting used to

ClearType rendering issue in IE
Clear type does not work with Win9x OS's, NT or 2k - it was an enhancement for XP/2k3 OS's and works only with LCD type displays. If your friends PC meets the above criteria, then try loading it and find out, as I don't know how it would react in combination with the "Zoom Text" feature. While I don't have any use

LCD Monitor Resolution question.
There are 3 - None, Standard, and ClearType. You may slect them on Display Properties, Appearance tab, Effects button. Pick the one you like. Most prefer ClearType for LCDs, and many do for CRTs as well. ClearType can also be 'tuned' to your preference, either online or via a downloadable program.

BTW If you're running XP try out Cleartype. It effectively triples the horizontal resolution for displaying small fonts on TFTs. When it works it's amazing! (See http://grc.com/cleartype.htm for a good explanation & demo app.) Sorry - don't think Cleartype's available on the Mac (yet.) ...Ray.
