ClearType & UI Font Question?
For example if I change my menu font under Display Properties- Appearance->Advance all application will use that font for the "File" menu. Office 2007 does not appear to respect these global settings and instead use some font optimized for ClearType. If I disable ClearType the UI fonts (ie window title, menus, etc.

I have an older Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop and using ClearType strains my eyes. I would like the Office 2007 to use the default Tahoma font that is not optimized for ClearType. This prevents the anti-aliasing from working properly on the iPaq, and about all you'll really notice is a bluish tint on the tops of lowercase letters. I guess it is different strokes different folks. I think ClearType looks best on the iPAQ and about equal on an HP Jornada and EM-500. --

Hey, nobody says you have to like what ClearType is doing. But some of us do. Ah, that's a different question. Some people like really small text, but if you don't- fear not. Vista, like XP before it, supports Resolution Independent UI! You can adjust the DPI setting upward and all that tiny text will get bigger.

It'll probably be to do with font smoothing, which can, in XP at least, either be off, on, or ClearType. The smoothing will generally look better (to me anyway), and ClearType can be set to how you want it, to get what looks best. Alternatively, you can turn it off, so the fonts take up exact pixels on the screen,
